Silence (with Cam Gallant)
Lyrics:
Ridin’ down the road again today Just thinking that I don’t know what to say Cold blues when I think about you You’re driving us, but I feel I’m in a sad sad song Your fingers are tight around the wheel I wish that you could feel the way it feels I don’t know how to act around you It’s in the past but my mind just won’t let go, now I know Miles roll and I scream in silence You won’t take your eyes off the road So apart but we’re here together Maybe we weren’t meant to last forever Rough roads but I hold on for you I needed to relinquish the truth Tomorrow is a brand new day Gotta make a choice and turn the page Two hours on this country road and Years pass with every moment Since my trust in you was stolen Your words won’t leave my mind I should forgive, let us both move on But two rights won’t right a wrong Don’t want to leave, don’t want to stay And we’re back to this again Miles roll and we scream in silence You won’t take your eyes off the road Space between us could go on forever Maybe we weren’t meant to rise together Rough roads but I hold on for you But it’s tough to face the truth Tomorrow is a brand new day We’re out of time, it’s time to turn the page All these paths ahead, what does the future hold I can never unhear those words Our families’ hearts are broken But maybe it's best to air things out in the open Choking back my tears What are we if we give up all of those beautiful years Do I still feel warmth when you call my name? Miles roll and we scream in silence You won’t take your eyes off the road Somewhere our lifeline was severed Maybe we weren’t meant to make it better Rough roads but I hold on for you And it’s tough to face the truth Tomorrow is a brand new day It's time to time to write, it’s time to turn the page Miles roll and we scream in silence You won’t take your eyes off the road Can we ever find a place together Where the doubts won’t haunt forever I’d never leave and I’ll always love you But I know it’s yours to choose Tomorrow is a brand new day We drive on, and I don’t know what to say |

Lyrics by Cam Gallant and Kelsey Gallant Melody by Kelsey Gallant and Cam Gallant Produced by Cam Gallant at Blobfish Studios Check out CamGallant.com for more awesome songs written and produced by Cam! The Story Behind The Song:
This was another song that Cam assembled the music for, and then I sang a sketch track to (mostly melody with a few sporadic vocals). Cam used my sketch track to start developing the lyrics. Using the premise he came up with, I filled in most of the gaps where he'd gotten stuck. Over the course of the next few nights, we worked together to fill in the leftover gaps. A fun fact about this song: we wrote it in May 2020. Later, I was going through voice recordings on my phone, and I found a recording of a completely different song that had verses the same tune as the first verse of "Silence"! I'd made that recording in March, and never listened to it again until after "Silence" was in its final stages of completion. I'm honestly glad I didn't remember that song, because if I'd known about it it could have interfered with the writing/making of "Silence", and I like "Silence" as is. The Word file below is an in-progress version of "Silence" while we were writing the lyrics!
