Allisen's Notebooks series

Genre: realistic fiction
Writing style: diary
Topics: friendship, family, school, relationships, life
Recommended age for starting the series: 10-12
The Allisen’s Notebooks series follows Allisen Zepetto from the beginning of sixth grade all the way up through the summer after her sophomore year of high school, with each volume depicting one year of her life. Each volume is broken down into “books”, or chapters—one for each month of Allisen's life. The entire series is written as Allisen’s ongoing diary.

Allisen starts out a month before her eleventh birthday, ready to start a brand-new chapter of her life. Through that year and the years to come, Allisen makes new friends, faces tough situations, goes on crazy vacations, and deals with the various kinds of drama that she encounters at home, at school, and in her neighborhood. It isn’t always easy to grow up, but Allisen’s narration of the events in her life brings out the details in everything—the happy, the sad, the nerve-wracking, and the embarrassing.
