Rainwalk
When I looked outside my window
And saw rain drizzling down
And heard wind rustling the branches
In the large New Hampshire town
I ran to tell my Mommy,
“We have to take a walk!
It’s raining and it’s windy
So let’s walk around the block! ”
We quickly put our shoes on
And hurried out the door
And skipped together, hand in hand
In the great downpour
As we walked along the sidewalk,
Our faces getting wet,
My mom and I were happy;
The rain was not a threat.
When we made it to the corner,
The wind whipped back our hair
We laughed and smiled together,
We didn’t have a care.
We stopped to watch a water torrent
Funnel down a drain
Twisting, twirling, turning
Through a tunnel filled with rain
We strolled by several houses,
And cars drove by, a few,
But the only ones out walking
Were my mom and me, us two.
We huffed up big hills in the road
And ran down other ones,
It gave us lots of exercise,
And made our day more fun.
Soon, too soon, we made it
Back to where we’d started out
We puddled down the driveway
And back into the house.
We dried off and went back to
What we’d had planned that day,
Mommy went to make some lunch,
And I went up to play.
But we both knew that the next time
The weather was the same,
We would take another walk outside
To enjoy the wind and rain.

I don't remember why, but when I was little, whenever we were visiting my grandparents and it was a windy or rainy day, my mom and I would always take a walk around the block. Good memories! :)

Paula and eddie
Little girl on roller skates
Zooming around, doing figure 8's
Caught the eye of a boy around her age
As her parents hauled boxes every which way
"I'm Paula, " she said. "Eddie, " said he
She thought they'd be neighbors but it wasn't to be
It was moving day not only for her, but for him
Eddie moved out the day Paula moved in
~
Fresh out of college, on his own
Not quite ready for a settle-down home
Found an apartment where the rent was cheap
Moved in the moment he got the key
He passed the old tenant on his way down the hall
They exchanged a quick "hi" and that was all
If they'd talked for longer she might have seemed familiar to him
But Paula moved out the day Eddie moved in
~
40 years old, going in for surgery
She thought, "I'm too young for an artificial knee"
They said, "You did great! Let's get you in recovery
There's a patient in there now but he's about to leave"
She saw the man in question as she was wheeled into the room
Bandages and casts, face swelled up like a balloon
If they'd become roommates she may have asked what happened
But Eddie moved out the day Paula moved in
~
Seventy and widowed, didn't want to live alone
Eddie moved into a retirement home
A woman smiled at him as she stepped out from next door
She said, "I could swear that I've seen you before"
She invited him over, they talked and they laughed
And then a picture on her wall made Eddie gasp
A little girl on roller skates, her mouth set in a grin
After all these years, he'd found Paula again

Lifelight
God is life. God is light.
God is our true lifelight
And though we struggle, though we fight
God is always our lifelight
Saved are we through the blood of Christ
When we trust in Him and just do right
The Holy Spirit gives us life
Life in God, our lifelight
Who rules the day and ends the night
Who comforts us in all our fright
Who gives us strength, and love, and sight
He is God, our lifelight

you and Me
We grew up together
You lived right next door
We made plans about forever
When we were only four
And we walked to the bus stop
At age eight, age nine, age ten
We didn't need the other kids
We were the best of friends
You said,
"This is how it always was
This is how it's gonna be
And nothing's ever gonna change this
It's you and me"
When we started middle school
Things began to change
You started making other friends
And I got pushed away
I grabbed you in the hall one day
Said, "Get away from them
They haven't known you all your life
And I'm your closest friend
This is how it always was
This is how it's gonna be
And nothing's ever gonna change this
It's you and me"
You didn't take it kindly
You kind of shook me off
I ran away crying
You didn't even stop
But later on you found me
You placed your hand on mine
Gave a sad-but-happy smile
And looked into my eyes
Said, "I'm sorry how it always was
Isn't how it's always gonna be
Life is full of changes
Even for you and me
But even though it's different now
From how it used to be
We can roll with all the changes
And still be you and me
We won't be each other's only friends
But friends, we'll always be
We can roll with all the changes
And still be you and me"

for My Mom
Thank you for understanding
When no one else does
Thank you for being there for me
When no one else was
Thank you for loving me
For exactly who I am
Thank you for knowing I will
When I don't even think I can
I love you

Tell the World; It is Joy!
Thousands of years ago, there were two people named Adam and Eve
They lived in peace with God, until they got deceived
Thousands of years of sadness and sin, and yet God never left
Tell the world, there is joy! God is here, tell the world, it is joy, joy, it is joy
A man named Noah, who lived in the light, following God, doing what’s right
God saved Noah, his family too, through fatal flood, they kept their lives
Tell the world, there is joy! God is here, tell the world, it is joy, joy, it is joy
Prophets came to tell the truth, and they were not believed
Yet then a baby boy was born, a child of hope to be received
He was the Savior, the Messiah, the king, and people rejoiced
Tell the world, there is joy! God is here, tell the world, it is joy, joy, it is joy
The baby grew up and they called Him Jesus, He taught, He preached, He gave
His ultimate purpose to be here on earth was so we could all be saved
Tell the world, there is joy! God is here, tell the world, it is joy, joy, it is joy
And yet some didn’t like him, they took Him away
Nailed Him to a cross, and there made Him stay
He died, but the grave could not hold him—Hooray!
And He is in Heaven with God now today
Tell the world, there is joy! God is here, tell the world, it is joy, joy, it is joy
So now what we have is the promise of life, if we live out our first lives for God
Eternal happiness, glory and life, to give God our entire hearts
Tell the world, there is joy! God is here, tell the world, it is joy, joy, it is joy
Tell the world, there is joy! God is here, tell the world, it is joy, joy, it is joy

when I see You
When I see you
My heart skips a beat
Your stunning smile
Your pearly white teeth
Your tender touch
Your heartfelt care
Your hilarious jokes
And your long golden hair
My heart skips a beat

Your pearly white teeth
Your tender touch
Your heartfelt care
Your hilarious jokes
And your long golden hair
Sunday
It’s Sunday, happy Sunday
Church bells are ringing in the air
Sunday, happy Sunday
Joyful people everywhere
Today’s the day, the seventh day
A day of rest, a day of prayer
Sunday, joyous Sunday
A day for Christians all to share
It’s Sunday, gleeful Sunday
A day for fellowship, love and care
Sunday, happy Sunday
A gift from God, that’s just and fair

THe Best
You look at me and you have to laugh
You say, "Honey, you can do so much better than that
What'cha up to with a guy who makes nine bucks an hour
Who gets his clothes second hand and goes to Flying J to shower? "
I look at you and you know what I see?
I see nothing but a snob who wants to own me
You're right, I want the best, so what do I do?
I chose a guy who's a lot better than you
He doesn't care about the way I dress
Or how much is in my bank
We share quality time together
He doesn't laugh at my mistakes
His smile is kind, his heart is full
Of love and fun and shine
With you the world was stormy gray
But with him it's sunny all the time
With you I could never be myself
I had to play the part
With him I'm alive and in perfect health
With him I share my heart
You always made me feel like a failure
But he helps me when I fall
You pushed me down so you could win
But he builds me up so tall
I look at you and I have to laugh
I say, "Don't you want your life to be better than that?
What'cha up to thinking money's gonna buy you happiness
Or that the girl who looks the prettiest has to be the best?
I look at you and you know what I see?
I see part of my past, just an ancient memory
You're right, I want the best, so what have I done?
I've chosen the guy who puts me number one

The idea for this poem was based off of my characters Mirisen, Steven, and Domacie from the Allisen's Notebooks series. The poem is not about those characters, but that's where the idea came from.

It's a Miracle
Hear bad news
Can't believe
Just wanna block my ears and turn away
Next day
Scared to ask how it turned out
Scared to see
Because you know these things never end happily
But I pray all day long
Continually
Knowing God is listening
Listening to me
And then when I find out the news
My smile breaks wide when I hear the news is good
I can't believe, so happy
And I know it's ‘cause He heard our prayers
It's a miracle
It's a miracle
You heard my prayers
Everything is possible
Everything is possible
With You
God, I love You

Relax
Cálmate
You're okay
Smile and breathe
Fly, be free
Mind to rest
It's all for the best
God's right there
With love and care
Breathe it in
Love will win
Breathe it out
Expel your doubts
Cálmate
You're okay
Worry's a fraud
So trust in God
(c) 2014
For those of you who don't know, "cálmate" means "calm down" in Spanish! I used to recite this poem to myself whenever I was feeling anxious.
