A New Interest

Allisen’s epic failure with Dimmy gives way to the realization that there’s someone else who actually is interested in her… and that she might be a little bit interested in him as well. (And I’d just like to add, the scene with Allisen and Jack in the study room after Dimmy and Vee’s kiss is definitely one of my favorite parts of the entire series!) Allisen isn’t sure at first how she feels about Jack liking her. She’s not even sure at that point whether she likes him back in the same way.

As time goes on, it becomes apparent that Allisen does have a crush on Jack, and also that her crush on Jack is very different from her crush on Dimmy. What are some of the differences you noticed in Allisen’s behavior around the two boys, the things she says about them in her diary, and her reasons for liking each of them? Do you think these are common differences between a crush on a friend and a crush on someone you don’t know?
