Stivre And Madalee
Although Allisen’s own experiences make up the bulk of the romance in this volume, let’s not forget about Stivre and Madalee. Stivre and Madalee have been going out together since April of eighth grade, and their relationship seems pretty solid. They’ve even got the public-kissing-and-grossing-everybody-out thing going. But when Stivre’s friend dies, he pulls away from everyone, including his girlfriend. Madalee still stands by him. She’s supportive and understanding about his condition, and she lets him know that she’s there for him. As it turns out, Stivre calls off the relationship because he has a lot of emotional baggage to deal with and needs a break from having a girlfriend. This is a responsible decision, and Madalee responds responsibly as well—by understanding his position and remaining friends with him even though they’re no longer dating.
