Starting At A New School

Picture
Allisen’s transition to middle school wasn’t easy. She didn’t know how to open her locker, there was a lot more homework than she was used to, one of her teachers was really mean, and—worst of all—she didn’t have any friends. To top it all off, during the second week of school, she got detention! She had never hated school before, but she did now.

Fortunately, it didn’t stay that awful. She learned how to deal with the homework and manage her time. She asked for help in opening her locker. She made some friends, and the horrible teacher ended up leaving the school. Usually, when you’re in the middle of a bad situation, it’s hard to imagine it ever getting better. But over time, it does get better, and you learn from it.

If you’re starting at a new school and having a tough time like Allisen, check out my tips for starting at a new school.
